During the winter Olympics held in Canada, bits of info were given in between the sounds of crunching ice and snow as athletes performed. One such account was about the people of Gander, Newfoundland and the human kindness that merits retelling.
When the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack on our country occurred, all planes flying over or near the continental US were ordered to land at the nearest airport.

With March proclaimed as Red Cross Month by President Barack Obama, the Tennessee Valley Blood Services Region thanks the volunteer blood donors whose efforts enable the Red Cross to respond to disasters down the street, across the country and around the world.
Red Cross Month is a great time for people to join our mission through activities like donating blood; signing up for CPR, first aid or other Red Cross health and safety courses; giving a financial gift or becoming a volunteer.

Annual Red Cross Mash Bash set for April 24

Come out for a fun evening to support your local Red Cross, enjoy live music, BBQ and a good time at the  Heart of Tennessee Chapter Mash Bash.  The event will be held on Saturday, April 24 at 6 p.m. at George Dickel Distillery in Normandy, Tenn.

Red Cross volunteers will sell tickets for $35 per person.  Ticket cost includes food, beverages and fun. Food will be provided by BBQ Bob.
