Visitation for Steve Ladell Smith, age 63 of Manchester, TN will be Saturday morning, August 14, 2010 from 9:00 until 12:00 noon at Coffee County Funeral Chapel. Mr. Smith passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2010 in Manchester after an extended illness.
He was born January 14, 1947 in Oak Ridge, Louisiana the son of the late O.T. Smith and Lennie Maurice Martin Smith. He was the eldest of three children and in earlier years starting out he served as a policeman while attending Technical College in Louisiana. After college he worked at Kaiser Aluminum Company in Louisiana, then moved to Manchester and worked as an Instrument Technician at AEDC for 20 years. Steve was known by his friends and family as being “big hearted”. He would offer his assistance to anyone in need at any time and also enjoyed fellowshipping with neighbors by going door to door sharing his love of Christ. His hobbies included hunting and fishing with his sons, collecting arrowheads and Civil War artifacts.
Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Mary Ann Harrell Smith of Manchester; sons, Kevin Smith (Christie Madden) and Jeff Smith (Dixie Branch) all of Manchester; grandson, Dillon Quaid Smith and his mother, Leslie Shelton also of Manchester; brother, Gary (Sharon) Smith of Wasilla, Alaska and a sister, Shelia Reid of Portland, Oregon.

Mr. John T. Seal
Funeral services for Mr. John T. Seal, age 81, of Manchester, will be conducted at 2 PM on Monday, August 16, 2010 at Manchester Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jim Pugh and Bro. Bennie Benjamin officiating. Burial will follow in the Adam Duncan Cemetery. Visitation with the Seal family will be from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Sunday, August 15 at the funeral home. Mr. Seal passed away Saturday morning at his residence.
Mr. Seal was born in Daylight, TN in Cannon County, Tennessee, the son of the late Robert Mason Seal and Clara Mae Jones. He was retired from the US Navy after 20 years of service and a member of the Goose Pond Methodist Church. At the funeral of General Douglas McArthur, he was honored to serve as a pallbearer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William Seal and Frank Seal; sisters, Martha Allene Ferrell, Georgia Faye Brandon, Carmene Seal, and Angie Farrar.
Mr. Seal is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Joyce Seal of Manchester; one daughter, Susan Joy (James) Rosson; two brothers, Paul L. (Narcissa) Seal of Woodbury and Jimmy Mason (Juanita) Seal of Manchester; one sister, Irene McCord of Woodbury; two grandchildren, Matthew John Hale and fiancé Krista Nowlin of Manchester and Amy Joy Hale of Ohio; and special friends, Pearl, Bobby & Artie Wright and the Yeager family.

Ruth Bickel Grant Paschal
Graveside services for Mrs. Ruth Bickel Grant Paschal, age 91 of Manchester, will be conducted Saturday, August 14, 2010 beginning at 1:00 PM at Maplewood Cemetery with Bro. Ralph Hart officiating. Mrs. Paschal passed away Friday, August 13, 2010.
Mrs. Paschal was born November 9, 1918 in Coffee County to the late John and Lillian Colwell Bickel. In earlier years she worked as a bookkeeper for Powers Building Supply and was a member of Red Hill Church of Christ, previously known as Southside Church of Christ. She enjoyed cooking and loved spending time with others. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Joe Paschal; and sister, Edna Menna.
Her survivors include brother, James Bickel; nephew, Larry (Diane) Bickel, both of Nashville; niece Mary (R.L.) Triggianno of Florida; great nephews, James Allen Bickel, Anthony and Carmen Triggianno; great niece, Cheriss Triggianno; and numerous cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Red Hill Church of Christ.
