Every year every person faces this day – the birthday; mine will be here Sunday, March 7.  I officially turn thirty years young at 3:07 a.m. on 3/07.  Unlike most adults, I look forward to my birthday; I guess you could say that I am somewhat childish because I always wonder what adventure my birthday could bring.  I love hearing the story behind my birth and love celebrating “my day.”

We live in a society where famous people cannot make a move without the possibility of somebody catching them on video.
Cell phones are the primary weapon in the constant battle to get even the most banal and meaningless activities on record. Whether it is video messaging, text messaging, or voice mail, well-known people have to always be on their toes when living their daily lives.

How We See It – Soccer suit is dead wrong

A group of parents of players on the girls' soccer team at Central High School has filed suit against the school system, charging that the system discriminates against female athletes.
In the coming weeks and months, the public will have the opportunity to sort out the facts in the case.  Coffee County Schools, which were served papers Monday in the Title IX discrimination lawsuit, have yet to issue a response. But based on what is already known about sports funding, our response is to ask, is this lawsuit truly necessary?

NASHVILLE, Tenn. –  I pity the next governor.  He or she is walking into a budget pitfall deeper than the Cumberland Gap, with no relief in sight. Economists expect the state’s finances to bottom out in June with an estimated $930 million deficit.
Voters have shown time and again their steadfast opposition to a state income tax. Politicians know that running on a platform of tax reform is political suicide.
Meanwhile, interest groups with stakes in issues like health care, education and state employee compensation are all clamoring for their slivers of the pie, regardless of how small.

“To build a better life” is an organization that creates commercials encouraging human respect.  I applaud the efforts of this organization because, to quote “Eve of Destruction” (1965) written by P. F. Sloan and recorded by Barry McGuire, “… human respect is desintegratin’/ This whole crazy world is just too frustratin.’”  Sadly, this song was recorded in the sixties, and not much has improved in forty-five years.
