CURVE, PA – Making his third victory, Bryan Morris now has a 3-1 record as he pitched Friday night (June 22) here and is expected to pitch again Thursday night for the Altoona team home against Trenton Thunder of New Jersey.
There were 5,808 on hand for the evening.
Morris had a 3-0 record with the Bradenton Marauders until he was transferred to the Altoona team after the May 15 game, the eighth contest where he had pitched in Florida.
Morris (3-1) earned his third Double-A win.
He lasted six innings for the second-straight start for Altoona and allowed two runs on five hits with six strikeouts. He walked two batters. At one point in the game Morris retired 10 Rock Cats batters in a row. He had a 2.33 ERA.
THE 17 hits by Altoona set a season high, surpassing the previous season high of 16. Chase d’Arnaud had four hits setting a record-high for the Pepperdine product and Josh Harrison had a four-RBI game that tied his career high.
Altoona leads the Eastern League Southern Division with a 40-21 record. New Britain is 16-44 for last place in the Northern Division. Trenton leads the Northern Division with a 35-23 record.
Morris faced 25 batters in his six innings.
He is the son of Rickey and Malinda Morris of Tullahoma.
